Professional Interests

Dr Thomas Gan has interests in the following fields of Sport & Exercise Medicine.

Lower Limb Stress Fractures

Being a keen runner himself, Dr Gan has an interest in lower limb stress fractures particularly in relation to the pathomechanics, diagnosis and new treatment modalities.

He is currently conducting the ALLSTAR study, looking at the use of low intensity pulsed ultrasound as treatment of lower limb stress fractures in an athletic population.

Tennis Injuries

Dr Gan is the current tournament physician of the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament, a major lead up event to the Australian Open. He hopes to publish injury data from this tournament that may aid the understanding and treatment of tennis injuries. Dr Gan has membership of the Society for Tennis Medicine and Science. He is also a capable tennis player and plays regularly.
